Gordon College Student-Athletes Named CCC Players of the Week

As announced by Commissioner Gregg Kaye and the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Spencer Lord '12 (North Stonington, Conn.) and Andrew Vandervoort '14 (Memphis, Tenn.) have been honored as the Men's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in helping the Scots stay unbeaten in conference with a pair of shutout wins last week.

Lord, who assumed the starting role in net midway through the season, was standout between the pipes on the week, posting seven saves in a 2-0 home shutout victory over Curry and three saves in a 2-0 road win over conference rival Roger Williams to finish the week with a 0.00 goals against average.

Earning his third CCC Player of the Week nod this year, Vandervoort (pictured above) has been a critical component of Gordon's success throughout the season. He played a part in both goals of the Scots' win over Curry (one goal, one assist) and netted the game-winner in his team's blanking of Roger Williams to accumulate five points on the week.

Lord, Vandervoort, and the rest of the Scots look to close out the regular season with another win as they host the Golden Bears of Western New England, who are also unbeaten in conference, on Tuesday, October 25. Having already clinched the No. 2 seed for the upcoming playoffs, the Scots will host seventh-ranked Salve Regina on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m.
