Gordon at SoulFest Presents Special Speakers, an Art Gallery, and a Gordon Community Celebration with President Lindsay

SoulFest 2011 is around the corner, and this year Gordon College is a major sponsor of the four-day Christian music and worship festival held at Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, New Hampshire. The event, which takes place August 3–6, will feature over 100 bands and artists on multiple stages and in numerous smaller venues.

In addition to music, Gordon will host a series of special offerings including a Community Gathering with President D. Michael Lindsay on August 6 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Back Room. Alumni, faculty, staff, current students, incoming freshmen, prospective students, parents and friends of the college are all invited to come, meet President Lindsay, and connect with the Gordon community.

Open each day of SoulFest, August 3–6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., will be an alumni art gallery on the third floor of the Mercy Street CafĂ©. Also available daily through SoulUniversity: A series of Conversations at SoulFest, will be lectures led by Gordon College faculty members.

Faculty member speakers will highlight social justice issues relevant to today’s teen culture such as teen suicide, biblical justice and how it relates to our lives today, and the role of Christians and sustainability. For details on session titles, times, locations and descriptions, click here.

“Our faculty speakers are passionate about justice and their areas of study. It’s exciting to be able to offer their perspectives to those attending SoulFest,” says Kristy Walker, director of admissions. “This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in Gordon to find out what our professors are like and to connect with our community.”

Discounted tickets are available until July 30, 2011, at 20% off for friends of the College, and FREE tickets are available until July 25, 2011, for Gordon faculty, staff and students (incoming students and the graduated class of 2011).

According to Walker, the admissions team has been planning for SoulFest since last year, and they have some exciting giveaways and competitions planned in addition to speakers and events. Admissions counselors will be at the Gordon tent from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the duration of the festival to answer questions and connect with students, parents and alumni.
