Softball Lands Four on All-TCCC Team

For their outstanding efforts over the course of the 2011 softball season, The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) recently conferred All-TCCC honors to Liz Cheesman ’12, Rachel Morissey ’14, Emily Borden ’12 and Kerry McPartlan ’12 of the Gordon College softball team.

Cheesman, a cocaptain for the Fighting Scots, grabbed All-TCCC First Team honors as a utility player after coming in from shortstop part way through the season to fill a role behind the plate. In her 35 games played, Cheesman batted .389, 42 hits and 22 RBI combined with a .965 fielding percentage.

Earning a Second Team nod as the designated player was Morrisey, who batted .301 in 33 games played with 25 hits and 13 RBI. Morrisey also stepped up to help fill key roles in the Scots’ defensive lineup down the stretch of the season.

At first base, Borden was voted Honorable Mention for batting a team-high .466 for the Scots, setting a school record with 48 hits, driving in 34 runs, and generating an impressive .972 fielding percentage. Joining her on the Honorable Mention team, McPartlan, also a cocaptain, batted .360 overall with 27 hits and 14 RBI to go with a .894 fielding percentage at third for Gordon.
